To help end the Depression of the 1930s, the Federal government developed the Works Projects Administration to put Americans to work. One of the projects in Texas was to inventory each of the Court Houses in the State. This book is that inventory of Hood County. Each department in the Court House was catalogued as to the contents of the records found there and maintained. This is extremely important for the historical and genealogical researcher. You may find a list in the Court House that you want to see that is normally not researched for records. This volume helps to know what is available.Example: MAPS AND PLATS - Plat Record 1920-1923; one volume. Blue prints and sketches of lands, showing name of owner, description and location of land, number of acres and boundaries, filing date, and recording date. Arr. Chron. by recording date. Indexed alphabetical by first letter of surname of landowner, chron. thereunder. Blue prints and hand drawn sketches. 148 pages - 18 x 12 x 2 inches.
