Craighead County, located in the north eastern portion of the state, was created 19 February 1859 as the 58th county formed in the state and was named for Senator Thomas Craighead. The historic portion of this book gives a brief history of the county from the beginning up to the time of the original publication in the mid-1880s. The biographical sketches were submitted by the families themselves.

Example

“ABRAHAM BROWN, farmer and stock raiser of Maumelle Township, is a son of David Brown, a native of North Carolina, and was born in Haywood County, NC, October 6, 1832....etc.”
